The Icelandic horse is famed throughout the world for its ability to travel great distances over rough terrain whilst keeping the rider comfortable with its smooth motion. These shows will showcase all the skills this wonderful horse has to offer whilst guests will be served dinner from a menu prepared from only local meat and produce. After dinner guests will then meet and greet (befriend) the Icelandic horse in its stables before heading off on a riding tour of the picturesque Húnaþing-vestra region.

Join us for this unique opportunity to meet, and learn about, the Icelandic horse in the beautiful surroundings of North Iceland. Our time together begins on the horse-breeding and training farm of Gauksmýri in the famous breeding region called Húnaþing-vestra. The farm, complete with gourmet restaurant, commands beautiful views from its hillside location all the way to the highlands of Iceland. It is here that you will be introduced to the Icelandic horse and its many characteristics and traits. After a visit to the stables we will head onto the patio to see the horses show off their five famous gaits and the various riding styles. If the weather is bad, the farm comes complete with an indoor display arena just in case!

After the show you can put your horse knowledge into practice as we head once again to the horse stables, this time to saddle up and head out on a beautiful tour around this stunning region of Iceland.
On our return to the farm we will head to the restaurant for a wonderful selection of grilled Icelandic meats in the conservatory dining hall followed by a mouth-watering dessert.
