Harbour seals and grey seals pup around Iceland. The harbour seal population is somewhat larger but the population of both breeds are stable. On the Vatnsnes peninsula are the best seal watching locations in Iceland as there the seals often lie and sunbath in numbers of tens if not hundreds together on skerries and sand beaches.
At the Icelandic Seal Center in Hvammstangi seals are researched and an exhibition on seals is open to visitors. More can be seen at the Icelandic Seal Center website.
